Bosch Power Tools has announced a 130-million-dollar expansion of its production facility in Lincolnton, North Carolina, for the manufacture of power tool accessories. The expansion is expected to create 400 new jobs over the next five years. The project will be supported by the Job Development Investment Grant and North Carolina’s Customized Training Program. The site has been in operation since 1960. The expansion will add more than 325,000 square feet to the plant and provide space for new production, logistics, and warehouse space. The investment is part of Bosch’s focus on the growing market of North America.
Sales doubling and increased presence planned
Bosch Power Tools wants to offer local manufacturing solutions and strengthen its presence in the region. In 2022, the company generated sales of 6.2 billion US dollars and is currently planning to double this figure by 2030. With a share of more than 40% of the global market for power tools, North America is an important region for Bosch. The company recently announced the acquisition of the assets of California-based chip manufacturer TSI Semiconductors for more than 1.5 billion US dollars. In addition, Bosch has already initiated investments in mobility-related production in South Carolina, including the manufacture of fuel cell stacks and the expansion of electric motor production. These investments are expected to create up to 700 new jobs. In addition, Bosch has announced investments in the manufacturing of household appliances in Mexico, which are expected to create more than 900 jobs.
