Bosch Develops Sustainable Boat Drives

Bosch has presented new system solutions for the electrification of boats and yachts. According to the company, Bosch is using its technological expertise from the passenger car and commercial vehicle sectors as well as from commercial applications to ensure the quality and reliability of its new drives.

Focus on more compactness and less weight

Bosch designed the electric motor in two power levels, 90 and 140 kilowatts, in order to meet different performance requirements in the maritime sector. Other components of the system solutions are the gearbox, inverter, and electrical control unit. To ensure high energy efficiency, these components have been developed with compactness and weight reduction in mind. The individual components can be offered as a complete package or flexibly integrated into existing drive systems. Bosch claims that optimized performance under specific operating conditions is also possible.
