Honda is being supplied with the axle drive for its new CR-V e:FCEV by Vitesco Technologies. This marks the first time that a drive system from Vitesco has been integrated into a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle.
In the CR-V e:FCEV, Honda combines a fuel cell system with a 17.7 kWh battery as energy storage to achieve a range of over 600 km (pure electric 60 km). The version of the EMR3 drive system from Vitesco installed in the vehicle delivers 128 kW of power and up to 310 Nm of torque. The vehicle will initially be available in the USA and from the end of 2024 in Japan.
Comparatively low production numbers are expected for the CR-V e:FCEV. Nevertheless, the EMR3 drive system from Vitesco is one of the most successful drive systems from a supplier in the automotive market due to its efficiency in a small installation space and low weight. By the end of March 2024, Vitesco Technologies had delivered over 900,000 units for several OEMs. The EMR3 is produced at the Vitesco factory in Tianjin, China.
