“Scale-up E-Drive” Transformation Hub Goes Live

The new “Scale-up E-Drive” platform will support companies in the fundamental transition to electric mobility until 2025. With funding of 4.8 million euros, the so-called transformation hub is part of a program by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action to transform the automotive industry. The aim of the hub is to strengthen Germany as an industrial site in the field of electric drives through knowledge transfer and networking along the entire value chain.

Establishment to facilitate market entry

The “Scale-up E-Drive” transformation hub is headed by “eMobil BW GmbH” and is made up of the partners “Bayern Innovativ”, the DLR Institute of Vehicle Concepts, the FTM Chair at TU Munich, and the PEM Chair of RWTH Aachen University. The consortium aims to make trends and industry information accessible to both new and existing players in the field of electric drives in order to break down barriers to market entry. To this end, various event formats will be used to help companies tap into technology trends and find partners to participate in the growing electric mobility market.

Consortium studies, workshops, and video material

“We want to establish a central know-how platform for the electric traction motor in Germany,” says PEM Director Professor Achim Kampker. The corresponding knowledge transfer will take place with the help of benchmark analyses and consortium studies. In addition, market developments and technological trends are to be documented and made available in freely accessible reports while special seminars and workshops at stationary and mobile showcases will make the topic of electric drives physically accessible throughout Germany. Furthermore, podcasts and video material will gradually be added to the offering.

Working groups to enable scaling in the industry

Cross-industry working groups, known as “focus groups”, are intended to identify and document interface problems to scale up solutions from research and development to industry in the future. There will also be an overview of testing options in Germany. A contact point for initial advice on market entry in the field of electric drives has already been set up.
