Audi Starts Production of PPE Engines in Hungary

Audi has started production of electric drives for the “Premium Platform Electric” (PPE) in Győr, Hungary. The electric motors will initially be used in the Q6 e-tron series and, according to a report by “electrive.net”, also be used in the Porsche Macan, which will be manufactured in 2024.

Production of 2,000 motors per day

In a completely new production area, around 700 employees will work in three shifts to produce stators as well as transmission components and assemble axles for the PPE. The production volume will be around 2,000 motors per day. The new production line for stators will comprise 28 and that for transmission components 15 work steps.

Further production line starting in 2025

Electric motors for the Audi Q8 e-tron have already been built in Győr since 2018. Product testing is also carried out at the Győr site. Furthermore, an electric motor production line for vehicles based on the Modular Electric Drive Kit (MEBeco) is currently under construction and scheduled to start in 2025.
